SAFR for Security is the premier facial recognition solution for live video that’s both highly accurate and tuned for rapid performance. With 99.86 percent accuracy, SAFR for Security can instantly detect and match millions of faces in real time, even under challenging conditions where faces are in motion, at different angles, under poor lighting conditions, or partially obscured – reducing the number of false alarms and simplifying a security professional’s ability to secure an area with confidence.
Security professionals can deploy SAFR as a standalone solution or integrated with video management systems (VMS). With VMS integration, security professionals can realize the benefits of SAFR through the interface they’re familiar with to experience a higher level of visibility across all camera feeds and respond to security events in real time.

When SAFR is paired with a VMS, the integrated experience provides vigilant 24/7 monitoring and can include live video overlays within the VMS to identify strangers, threats, concerns, unrecognized persons, VIPs, employees, or other tagged individuals in live video.
Security teams can customize real-time alerts to automatically notify them when persons of interest appear on a video camera feed, or make use of automated bookmarking to conduct investigative analysis.
SAFR for Security attaches rich metadata to video footage so security professionals can search by time range, location, category, person type, and registered individual, instead of sifting through hours of video to find a specific person.

The foundation of the SAFR for Security solution is the underlying SAFR platform. The SAFR platform is optimized for excellence in accuracy and performance for live video. It can be deployed on a single computer to monitor a handful of IP cameras, or scaled to thousands of cameras in a distributed architecture – hosted on premises or hybrid cloud. All data passed through the platform is protected by AES-256 encryption in transit and at rest. The platform also provides extensive support for scripted actions, such as sending alerts or notifications, unlocking or locking doors, and numerous other actions.
Fast & Accurate
In the world of security, reaction time is everything. But delivering rapid facial recognition results without accuracy would return unacceptable errors, like granting access to a threat or denying access to a VIP. SAFR’s algorithm has been designed for a superior balance of speed and accuracy.
With a 99.86 percent accuracy rate, SAFR outperforms competing facial recognition algorithms through high performance that delivers results 3-5 faster. In the April 2019 National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) test results, the SAFR algorithm tested as both the fastest and most compact amongst algorithms for wild images with less than 0.022 False Non-Match Rate (FNMR) and was 62 percent faster than the average speed. The SAFR database is optimized for rapid matching against millions of records in near real time, making identification extraordinarily fast. With edge intelligence, SAFR detects a face moving through live video, and then recognizes it, in under 100 milliseconds.
SAFR also has one of the lowest rates of bias with respect to skin tone and gender, according to NIST tests of more than 100 algorithms. SAFR performs consistently across a range of skin tones due to its massive and highly diverse global training set.
SAFR is built for privacy. All facial signatures and facial images in transit or at rest use AES-256 encryption, and no data is passed over the internet if run on premises. Privacy is thoughtfully addressed from a full suite of administrative tools that include easy opt-in/opt-out capabilities to Implementation Best Practices.

SAFR’s distributed architecture allows for efficient bandwidth consumption, reducing the roundtrip latency, even over 3G networks. The low-bandwidth requirements, edge processing, efficient algorithm, off-the-shelf hardware, and ability to leverage inexpensive GPUs deliver significant cost savings.
