Who They Are
Fiesta Foods is a regional grocery chain serving diverse communities with a commitment to high-quality service and safety. It provides top-quality products at great value while supporting the Hispanic community both in-store and beyond.
The Opportunity
Fiesta Foods faced a persistent and growing problem with shoplifting across all of its locations. Incidents were increasing month after month, and traditional deterrents were not very effective. Furthermore, with the large volume of offenders, it was challenging to remember everyone and identify them quickly. Store staff were left without enough information to prevent theft before it happened.
How We Helped
Fiesta Foods implemented SAFR Guard to identify repeat offenders as soon as they entered the store. The system provided real-time mobile alerts to staff and loss prevention teams, including:
- A snapshot showing the matched face to the reference image
- Key descriptors of their previous offenses (e.g., violent, etc)
- Details to easily find them that day in the store, e.g., full body picture of what they are wearing
This gave employees and store managers the information they needed to safely and proactively respond to potential theft before it occurred. SAFR’s transparency and configurability allowed Fiesta Foods to maintain community trust by only uploading individuals known to be shoplifters — not everyday customers.
