The Dubai Mall LogoDubai Mall is one of the largest shopping and entertainment destinations in the world developed and owned by Emaar Properties, located in Downtown Dubai next to the Burj Khalifa. It features over 1,200 stores, a massive aquarium, an Olympic-size ice rink, a VR park, luxury cinemas, and hundreds of dining options. This iconic mall also connects to the Dubai Fountain and hosts high-end brands in its Fashion Avenue. It attracts millions of visitors each year and offers a mix of shopping, dining, and unique attractions all under one roof.

The Opportunity

Dubai Mall wanted to analyze traffic flow in greater detail to understand trends and forecast visitor traffic. The goal was to both increase the safety and security of visitors as well as make more informed sales and marketing decisions.

How We Helped

SAFR Software was installed and connected to 90 existing cameras in the mall to process face analysis of all visitors entering the Mall to extract the following details:

  • Total number of faces viewed.
  • Percentage of male and female faces.
  • Age and sentiment percentages.
  • Sentiment scores.

All the events were seamlessly integrated into Emaar’s existing BI tool, enabling the team to generate detailed reports for in-depth analysis of the Mall’s traffic.

The Impact

With an average of 60 million events per week, SAFR has proven to be a robust solution for retail analytics, even in the busiest locations. Furthermore, by utilizing the existing infrastructure, it minimized the initial deployment cost.
