The Opportunity
With over 50,000 students entering campus each day, both on foot and by car, the university’s card-based access system struggled to keep up. Pedestrian gates regularly backed up as students searched for or presented their IDs. Vehicle entry posed an even greater challenge: when a student forgot their card, it delayed everyone in line and required manual intervention to clear the queue. On top of these inefficiencies, card sharing created security gaps that made it difficult to ensure only authorized individuals were gaining access. The university needed a scalable solution that could provide faster, more reliable, and more secure entry for its entire student population.
How We Helped
The university deployed over 100 SAFR SCAN devices across entry points, including both pedestrian turnstiles and vehicle gates. SAFR’s advanced face recognition technology overcame tough outdoor lighting conditions and worked seamlessly whether students were walking or driving through. The system eliminated the need for cards altogether—no more replacements, no more forgotten IDs, no more bottlenecks.
The Impact
